Rapid response to overnight crisis meant business as usual Trailfinders
The Background
Trailfinders is the largest independently owned travel company in the UK employing over 1,000 members of staff and making travel arrangements for over 15 million clients from its 42 travel centres in the UK & Ireland. Trailfinders’ contracted storage and distribution facility had ceased trading overnight. Immediately, all 42 travel centres and post rooms were unable to function or replenish stocks of brochures, merchandise and POS materials which would have a huge impact on the sales and profitability of the business.
The Solution
FOX took a call from the Managing Director and leapt into action. After talking directly to the administrators, a dedicated team were sent to the existing storage facility. They hired forklift trucks, counted, packed, palletised and stock controlled all items and worked around the clock for four days to obtain possession of all Trailfinders products.
At the same time, we built a fully branded online stock management and ordering platform consisting of thumbnail images, stock levels, user groups, authorisation processes and delivery locations of all 42 travel centres.
We developed, tested and implemented a distribution plan and schedule ready for immediate rollout.
The Results
30 artic lorries were ordered over the four day period with 900 pallets of stock moved and relocated. Within seven days all items were relocated to a new storage facility in Tunbridge Wells whilst the travel centres could access the new online platform and start to receive regular deliveries.
Thanks to FOX’s quick and efficient response, Trailfinders’ sales and profitably were not affected despite the major operational and logistical challenges.
